How to Love on Yourself this Valentine's
It's that time again! For the next 24 hours, our timelines will be filled with relationships goals posts and red and pink hearts. Love is in the air for many, but for my single gals it seems like another year to celebrate "Single Awareness Day".
Oh, Valentine's Day - for a manufactured holiday, you sure do bring a lot of anxiety...
But let's not pretend that February 14th is just for those in relationships and think of how much opportunity it brings to SPLURGE on no one else but you and/or your other #Fittbabes!
There are so many ways to celebrate the love you have for yourself! Here are 5 Ways to make V-Day a "Me" Day this year, especially in the middle of a pandemic:
1. AFFIRMATIONS + COMPLIMENTS
It is so important to reframe the narrative of love and take the time to think about what you love about yourself. I realized that I loved when my S.O would remember the little things about myself, that I didn't even know I did. Whether it's the way your kinks find their way out of your bonnet at night, or the little dimple that forms when you're picking your brows. Make a list of 20 things you love about yourself and place them in a jar. Whenever you are having a down day or feel like you're being too hard on yourself, grab one of those affirmations to remind yourself that there is no one like you. While you're at it manifest the future you want for yourself (who knows, you might jus manifest your soul mate during your self love season).
2. MAKE SOME "FEEL GOOD" FOOD
Whoever said there were only 5 Love Languages was absolutely wrong- they forgot about the best one of all- FOOD! Nothing makes my heart pitter patter more than a meal that satisfies all my taste buds. This is the perfect opportunity to take yourself on a date and make one of those recipes you've been dying to try. Now of course, I gotta say it don't give yourself a heart attack trying to eat a 5 course meal. If you are on track of maintaining your diet and fitness goals, satisfy your taste for that lobster with a light vinaigrette salad.
3. EXPRESS YOURSELF
I for one express myself in many ways [one being this post], and I encourage you to do the same. Valentines day can give us mixed feelings but it's important to figure those feelings and let them all out! Do a paint n' sip, buy some cheap plates at Walmart- write your exes names on it and smash it to bits [saw this one on TikTok], or maybe just maybe zone out to some love songs at the gym for a while. Whatever feels right, do that ish!
4. LOVE ON YOUR LOVED ONES
My mom has always said, don't be too busy to make your family feel loved , especially on this holiday. When I was younger my dad always remembered to make me feel a little extra special on Valentine's day with my own card and box of chocolates. Now that you understand the true meaning of the holiday find some time to bring it back ten fold and send an edible arrangement to your parents, they most likely won't expect it (healthy and loving). Most of us, are back home qith our parents due to the pandemic , so get off your ass and make a great dinner and put on a movie.
Your girlfriends are also a part of this section- hey've been there through all the heartbreaks, the get "back -togethers" and everything in between. Maybe get them that Telfar bag they've been eyeing or have a sleepover [ we're never too old for those- just bring the wine and vibes]!
5. TREAT YO'SELF
I said it before and I'm gonna say it again for the people in the back- TREAT YOURSELF! That Gymshark collection that just came out, click purchase! That pedicure your toes have been screaming for- get'er done! While you're at it, go ahead and click on that "KLEAN BODIES TRAIN DIRTY PROGRAM" and add to cart. I promise you, your future self will thank you later..
Anyways I say all this to say...
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! LOVE YOU MY QUEENS!
xoxo
